ALERT: Disaster Relief and Public Support

The Kentucky Regional Extension Center (Kentucky REC) provides support services for healthcare providers assisting them in the adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) with the goal of helping providers achieve Meaningful Use (MU). On this website, you can learn more about the services we provide, how they can benefit your organization, how we can help you receive Medicare/Medicaid Incentive payments, and how we may be able to do this at little or no cost to you!

The Kentucky REC, housed at the University of Kentucky, is one of more than sixty regional extension centers that received funding from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Since our beginning in July 2010, we have actively engaged the healthcare community in support of this nationwide initiative. As of January 5, 2012, the Kentucky REC:

  • Helped bring to Kentucky approximately $65,000,000 in federal dollars!
  • Is assisting more than 1600 individual providers across Kentucky, including primary care AND specialists!
  • Is supporting more than 380 provider locations across Kentucky!
  • Is helping more than 95% of the FQHCs and RHCs within Kentucky!
  • Is helping more than 70% of Kentucky's Critical Access & Rural Hospitals!
  • Is partnering with neighboring RECs to support provider settings in border communities to better serve their patient population.
